Nivo is hands down the best slider out there. It is easy to work with, robust and has options that crush it and just plain work.

About 60% of the site development I do ends up involving a customer request for a slider of some sort. In nearly all of these cases, even though I could slap a WordPress plugin into the mix and call it good, the real best solution ends up being a custom installation of the Nivo Slider.
